Learn More LASER Therapy Veterinary Therapeutic LASER Therapy for dogs and cats.

Slide Contact Us At Westside Animal Hospital, we are proud to offer alternative therapeutic laser for Photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy as one of a variety of treatment options that provide great benefit for your pet. It is non-invasive, painless, non-surgical and a drug-free treatment that can target a variety of health conditions. It is also safe to be performed in conjunction with other existing treatments.

LASER stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation, which refers to a unit that emits focused penetrating light.
What is LASER Treatment?

Slide Westside's Companion LASER is an FDA approved low-level LASER, or Class IV Laser Therapy, that uses focused light to increase blood circulation and stimulate the regeneration of cells. It has a great potential to stimulate healing and eliminate pain and inflammation in both superficial and deep tissue. Because Class IV LASERs have a higher output power, approved eye safety glasses must be worn for eye protection.

What Can I Expect At The Appointment?

  • Before any LASER treatment regimen is prescribed, a veterinarian will perform a complete physical exam to determine whether LASER treatment is right for your pet.
  • A licensed veterinary technician who is well trained and experienced in delivering the LASER Therapy will administer the treatment.
  • There will be no pain involved for your cat or dog. Your pet will relax and enjoy the treatment. Your cat may purr and your dog may fall asleep.
  • There is no clipping or shaving for your pet’s fur.
  • When the licensed veterinary technician moves the handheld wand back-and-forth over the affected or painful area, your pet will feel comfort. You can see them relaxed as pain is relieved.
  • During the session all team members and patients will wear protective goggles. Although adorable on your pet, this eyewear is protecting the eye’s retinas from damage that could occur if the laser beam were to contact the eye.
  • A typical session can last from 5-20 minutes. Often multiple sessions are recommended.
Call our office at (585) 571-9349 to schedule an exam to see if LASER treatment is the right treatment for your pet.
